Now that spring is here, are you ready to get outdoors? We’ve got some great ideas for a nature lovers’ 3-day getaway to Cape Charles. The Cape is a natural paradise where our beautiful flora and fauna will inspire you. Not only will you breathe deeply of our fresh air, but you’ll also relax and feel refreshed. Here are some of our favorite activities with suggestions for Instagram shots and dining locations.
Things To Do
From hiking trails to nature preserves to sand dunes, Cape Charles will fill your senses with beauty and tranquility. An early morning stroll on the beach will start the day off right. Catch some glimpses of eastern shorebirds on the sand or off the boardwalk. Look for spring wildflowers while wandering through a state park, or just get some hiking exercise while taking in the views. Here are a few resources to get you outside:
- Cape Charles Natural Area Preserve
- Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge
- Beginner’s Birding Tips in Cape Charles
- Kiptopeke State Park
- Eyre Hall Gardens (this flows into the next section for photo-ops, too, stunning!)
Instagram-Worthy Opportunities
It’s all about the ‘gram! Social media junkie or not, everyone enjoys having pictures to remember special times. Document your tour of all things natural beauty by snapping some unique shots. Trying for that perfect selfie? Say “cheese” along the nearly 18 miles of The Chesapeake Bay-Bridge Tunnel. How about some views while enjoying the forests and fields astride a horse? You’ll get a lot of likes with your wildlife closeups at the Eastern Shore of Virginia National Wildlife Refuge. Natural lighting is unparalleled for giving you the perfect picture; your only challenge will be deciding which images to post!
Places To Eat
We have some great spots that will satisfy you no matter the time of day. You could likely use a snack in between your morning coffee and afternoon activities. Or maybe it’s time to have a nice dinner with some local flavor before climbing into bed.
- Brown Dog Ice Cream — we suggest lemon poppyseed or Pickett’s Harbor Peach ice cream.
- Cape Charles Brewing Company — try the Nor’easter pale ale with a burger or crab cake sandwich.
- Cape Charles Coffee House — grab a Cobb salad for lunch and have an espresso pick me up!
- Oyster Farm Seafood Eatery — something for everyone, including the lovely oysters, but also a delicious lunch and dinner menu. Add a cocktail for a nightcap!
With so many things to do, places to see, and restaurants to try, it’s hard to choose. So, our nature lovers’ 3-day getaway to Cape Charles is just the tip of the iceberg. But quick escapes can be so refreshing. We have four beautiful second-floor rooms complete with luxurious linens and bathroom amenities awaiting your stay. Then each morning, we’ll greet you with a freshly-made breakfast and a steaming cup of coffee (or tea).
