If you didn’t already know this, it’s time I spilled the beans. I’m a HUGE Jimmy Buffett fan, and I’ve been to over 40 of his concerts. My first one was in 1988, and I’ve traveled up and down the East Coast, and even into the Midwest, because…well, I’ve fallen in love with the Margaritaville State of Mind.

In April of this year, one of my “bucket list” dreams came true. I had always dreamed of seeing Buffet from the first 10 rows. Within two days of his concert in Virginia Beach, I went online and snagged tickets in the seventh row–center stage. One of the things I love about Jimmy is that he has the ability to not only take people to a very happy place with his easy, breezy tunes, but he also brings different people together. On that evening in April, I sat next to a neurosurgeon and a four year old. That child knew all the lyrics to every song that was sung that night!

Here at the Bay Haven Inn of Cape Charles, we’ve embraced the Margaritaville State of Mind. Polly the Parrot adorns one of our most beloved pieces of furniture, a butler’s tray, that sits on the porch to greet guests during cocktail hour. Petey the Parrot, our newest addition, welcomes guests on the screened-in porch on the side of the inn.
Spicing up our Margaritas with Blue Crab Bay Jalapeño Margarita mixer
One of our favorite cocktails at this time of year is the jalapeño infused margarita, made with a mixer from the Blue Bay Crab Company. This mixer is fantastic, can be bought internationally, and has received the Made in Virginia Award. (And an exciting new fact…Blue Crab Bay and the Bay Haven Inn of Cape Charles were recipients of the 2016 Best Of awards this summer!)
